The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Two-Disc Special Edition)

The third installment of Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster vampire series is its most action packed, both in terms of fight scenes and human-vampire-werewolf lovin'. In Eclipse, the vampiric Cullen clan and the werewolves--their sworn enemies--unite against an army of "newborn" vampires, whose remnants of human blood in their veins makes them stronger and more uncontrollable, causing a string of murders in the Seattle area. They've been created by the vengeful vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard, taking over for Rachelle Lefevre), still keen on destroying human Bella (Kristen Stewart). Thus, Bella is under careful watch, and her undead love Edward (Robert Pattinson) and werewolf best friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner) spend a lot of time arguing over who is the better man for her. (In one hilarious scene where Bella's freezing and only Jacob has the lupine body heat to warm her, he looks over at Edward and cracks, "I am hotter than you." Go Team Jacob!) But there's more at the heart of the triangle than love: Bella, against Edward's warnings, doesn't want to grow older than him and would willingly give up contact with her parents, the chance to grow old with children, and more to be turned into a bloodthirsty vampire. (Jacob's trump card is that Bella wouldn't have to give up her mortality to be with him.) But the unfolding of this love triangle is even clumsier than it was on the page; you're never really convinced Bella has romantic feelings for Jacob, even during their climactic kiss on top of the mountain. This is likely to confuse non-readers of the book series, as Stewart emotes nothing that intones there's a real competition here (clearly, she's Team Edward).

Pattinson, on the other hand, appears to have overcome his awkwardness to become a much cooler Edward; Howard, while missing Lefevre's mischief as Victoria, brings her own touch of soft-spoken manipulation; and Billy Burke, as Bella's father Charlie, continues to steal every scene he's in. The other Cullens also get far more play here, notably Rosalie (Nikki Reed), whose revealing back story is touching and tragic, and Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), who trains everyone in combat and who, halfway through the movie, adopts a sudden Southern accent that he didn't have before, once it's revealed he was a Confederate soldier (on a side note, it's mentioned in the books that Jasper can calm the emotions of others, but that trait isn't used in the movie). The climactic fight scene is well staged by director David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy); the violence, while not bloody, is still more abundant and disturbing than in the previous films; and the sex, while not actually happening between anyone (yet), is certainly on everyone's mind (but Edward wants to get married first). It seems the characters, and the series, are growing up. --Ellen A. Kim

'Twilight' DVD release: Partying at midnight?

Naively, it didn't occur to me that there would be midnight parties at various retailers tonight for the release of the Twilight DVD (enter your zipcode here to find the one nearest you). But just because the movie was a bit disappointing for some, doesn't mean that others won't want to own it. Immediately. Plus, the extras have been getting some decent buzz. You've got more making out in the deleted scenes, Robert Pattinson livening up the commentary track. There are good times still to be had, friends. (Or so I sincerely hope since I'm planning on buying my copy Saturday -- at a sane hour.)

What are your Twilight DVD release plans? Had I not a pre-existing engagement with my DVR and sofa, I might've headed to a local Borders. They're planning in-store scavenger hunts, which sound horrifying but hypnotic. They're also doing The Borders Twilight Movie Awards, in partnership with Summit Entertainment. Fans vote on competitive categories such as "Best OME (Oh My Edward) Moment," non-competive categories such as "Best Vampire," humorless categories such as "Funniest Moment" (Edward getting his first whiff of Bella in biology should've been nominated -- Pattinson's acting cracked me up!), and seriously incomplete categories such as "Best Hair." I may have laughed when I first saw photos of Peter Facinelli as blond Carlisle, pictured, but I thought he totally pulled that look off in the film.

So, there's good news for us Twilight fans - Bella Swan will be, in line with New Moon the book (for more New Moon expectations see here) be cliff-diving.

Below, Kristen Stewart talks about her preparation for the cliff-diving scene in New Moon. Says she, she went to do a "head-scan" where she had to make a solid face and hold it in preparation for a computerized Bella to be made for the cliff-diving scene.

She gets to "almost jump" on her own, she says.

This is great news for us Twilight fans who wish to see scenes like Bella's cliff-dive presented perfectly to us. Chris Weitz, New Moon's director, has some experience with CGI in his work on The Golden Compass and others.

Love Bella's 'Twilight' style? So does Robert Pattinson!

There's no expensive D&G, no blinged Juicy Couture, no double-C Chanel or slinky Versace in the seductively subdued world of "Twilight."

"Twilight" costume designer Wendy Chuck explains to EW why she didn't put Bella (Kristen Stewart) in a single big designer creation in "Twilight."

And she probably won't do any recognizable designer duds in "New Moon" either.

Seems she made a conscious choice to shun A-list designers and stick to real-life affordable separates.

''My look is always character-based and not fashion-based," she tells EW. It's really easy to get over-stylish, and I felt that Bella in particular had to be anchored in the real world.''

That's why you see Bella in the parking scene car wreck scene in a brown Rubbish hoodie from Nordstrom and woolen mittens from Ruth Cross. And why Bella looks sweet in a cream thermal by Curious Gypsy with thumb holes in the sleeves in the hospital scene.

And why she sports a faded blue cargo jacket from Jack BB Dakota (purchased at the last minute from a Nordstrom Rack store) when she and Edward do tree climbing. And why she dons a $20 Max and Cleo silk frock from the discount shop Ross to briefly hit the high school prom.

According to EW, that newly dubbed "Twilight" cargo jacket will be reissued in July for $84. We want one now!

'Twilight': The wolf pack is cast

Summit Entertainment has revealed that five Native American/First Nation actors will join Taylor Lautner as members of the wolf pack in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The announced actors are Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon, and Tyson Houseman. Werewolf characters, in particular Lautner's Jacob Black, will figure prominently in New Moon, due in theaters on Nov. 20.

'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson eyeing romantic drama 'Memoirs'?

Sources tell EW that Summit Entertainment, the studio behind Twilight, is talking to its favorite vampire, Robert Pattinson, about starring in the project Memoirs. Neither the studio nor Pattinson's agents would confirm the star's involvement. The spec script, from young writer Will Fetters, which wound up on 2008's Black List, centers on two college students who have both experienced personal loss, who fall in love and heal their fractured families. Hollywoodland director Allen Coulter is negotiating to direct the script and screenwriter Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) is working on the rewrite. Pattinson is currently in preproduction on the Twilight sequel New Moon and is already signed on to the third film in the series, Eclipse.

10 Things Parents Should Know About Twilight

If you're the parent of a tween or teen, chances are good you've heard talk of Bella, Edward, and the other characters in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling young-adult vampire saga. And if you've somehow managed to be elude this phenomenon, that's sure to change when Twilight devours movie screens later this month.

Given the millions of devoted fans of all ages worldwide, the speculation that Twilight and its already planned New Moon sequel could top the Harry Potter franchise doesn't seem terribly hyperbolic. And as a parent, that means the peer pressure -- and pleas from your child -- will be intense.

To help you make an informed decision, we consulted a group of parents well-versed in Twilight. Lisa Hansen is the site owner and "coven mother" of TwilghtMOMS.com, which she launched nearly a year-to-the-date before the movie's November 21 premiere. Already, her site has 16,000 registered members -- and is currently adding nearly 100 new ones a day. Members must be at least 25-years-old, a mom, or married.

Hansen first became aware of the Twilight series a few summers ago when she was a leader at a girls camp where the book was not allowed. Then, not only were all the teenage girls in the neighborhood talking about it, but they were also telling her she had to read it. "I thought, what is the deal with it? So I read it -- and was instantly obsessed." The desire to talk with other adults about the books lead her to post on a MySpace group, which soon morphed into TwilightMOMS.com.

But as big of a Twilight fan as she is, Hansen is the first to acknowledge that giving your child the green light on the series is a personal choice. "As a parent, myself, I know that it is not my place to tell any other parent what is best for their child," she says. A credo she communicates to the young girls who have emailed her, pleading that she tell their parents why they should be allowed to read the book.

So to help you make that personal decision, Hansen and her fellow TwilightMOMs helped us put together this look at what parents should know about Twilight.

It's not a scary vampire tale with Satanic references.

In fact, the author is a Mormon and she provides a non-traditional take on vampires. "The Cullens are vampires who choose to abstain from feeding on humans, value human life and protect it, and do not possess the typical vampire traits," says InnamorataDiTwilight. Juliek22 adds, "The characters are not evil, and the bad guys are not dark enough to cause nightmares."

There is no sex, drugs, or graphic violence, only some mild sensuality.

Compared to other works targeted at kids in the tween-teen range, most consider Twilight to be quite mild. Comments ranged from "I think this is one of the cleanest series out there for young adults," by Katieb to "The violence in the series is far less graphic than the anything contained in the last three Harry Potter books," by Julie&Jasper. However, BeautifulDisaster cautions, "The books contain more mature themes as the book series progresses; the first book is suitable for a younger audience, while the last is, in my opinion, best read with a bit more life experience."

Twilight isn't just a chick thing.

Along with appealing to a wide variety of ages, it crosses the gender barrier. "Plenty of guys are interested, including several of my male 7th grade students," says BeautifulDisaster. And Suelibevg describes the appeal this way, "Boys like the vampire aspect and the cars!! Girls like the romance."

Actions, choices, and their consequences are the series' primary themes.

Says AZmomx2, "The thing that I think was my favorite is the idea of choices...that you can shape your future by the choices you make. As an adult, I know this. As a teenager, I often felt like I was on this 'ride of life' and had no control over things." And following on that, Raeniece says, "Even when a wrong has been righted or amends made, that doesn't mean the consequences from those previous choices can be avoided. They have to be dealt with."

Beware the "Twilight Zone."

That's the phrase self-professed "Twilighters" have used to describe the obsession that leads them to re-read the books, spends hours each day on the dozens of fansites that have sprung up, and turn their rooms into Twilight boutiques. Lion<3lamb class="fullpost">

The series is an easy sell to "non-readers."

As with the Harry Potter books, the Twilight saga appeals to kids who are resistant to reading. "Even my youngest daughter (12 yrs) who absolutely hates reading, gave in and started Twilight, says Mio Crepuscolo. "She would disappear for hours at a time to read." HELIKESBRUNETTES agrees and warns, "This book will really engage them, probably like nothing they've ever read before, so make sure they do their homework BEFORE reading daily, or it will probably never get done!"

Twilight promotes additional reading.

The series is peppered with references to works of literature. "Twilight will have your children wanting to read works referenced within (Pride & Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Romeo & Juliet, The Merchant of Venice)," says IsabellaCullen. And the movie's Bella and Edward even pose for an American Library Association poster.

There are far worse idols for your child to glom onto.

"Bella does her homework AND cooks!" jokes Centaur1201. Chocoholic agrees, "The main character is a 'good girl.' She cares about people, she is obedient, does her homework, is kind to her friends, does not drink, smoke, or party, and is home by curfew. She is responsible and conscientious. What more could we ask for?"

Ultimately, the decision depends on your child.

The movie has a PG-13 rating. The book advises 12 and up. Some of the TwilightMOMS have read the book to kids as young as five; other say they wouldn't let kids read it until at least seventh grade. All recommend basing the decision on the age and maturity of your child. "Some children are less mature than others to handle different issues," says TheMacPack5. "There are kids out there that simply would not 'get it' just yet. And by all means, wait until they are ready. But once they are, they will LOVE The Twilight Saga!!"

Allow yourself to be "bitten" by Twilight.

As fans of the series, it's not too surprising that these moms would recommend them to adults. But their encouragement goes beyond that. Says Green Mountain Mom, "Read the books yourself! Chances are you will enjoy them, and certainly you'll have the opportunity for conversation on topics ranging from funny moments to intense emotional conflict." Bookbabe agrees, "Talk about the books you read together. This is an excellent way to discuss the values you want your child to take with them into adulthood."

`Twilight' sucks up $70.6M in box office debut (AP)

LOS ANGELES - The vampire romance "Twilight" drained the box office in its opening weekend, taking in $70.6 million.

Catherine Hardwicke's film also enjoyed the biggest opening ever for a female director, blowing away the previous standard of $41.1 million set by Mimi Leder 's " Deep Impact " in 1998.

Drawing from its huge fan base of teenage girls, who fell for Stephenie Meyer's novel of forbidden love between brooding vampire Edward Cullen and bookish high schooler Bella Swan , "Twilight" made a whopping $20,636 per theater, according to Sunday morning estimates.

And the fangirls will get another taste soon enough: Summit Entertainment, which released "Twilight," announced during the weekend that it's going ahead with production of "New Moon," based on the second book in Meyer's internationally best-selling series. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will return as its star-crossed lovers, but whether Hardwicke will be at the helm again is still being determined.

The laid-back Hardwicke, who went bodyboarding at sunset Saturday to take her mind off this high-pressure weekend, said Sunday morning that she was heading to a meeting later in the day to discuss her possible involvement in "New Moon."

"I want to be sure that it's going to be done right. I don't want to rush into it," she said. "It's not like ` Friday the 13th ' or ` Halloween ,' you can't just do it super fast and knock another one out. I want to understand their plans and all that."

Hardwicke, whose previous films include "Thirteen" and " Lords of Dogtown ," also said she was thrilled about the prospect that the success of "Twilight" will inspire other women and young girls to pursue a career in filmmaking.

"I hope not just women but all minorities get enthused and encouraged by it. I look at the ( Directors Guild of America ) calendar, at the pictures of everyone that had different movies each month, and it's usually 22-29 different directors, and almost every month there's one female and maybe one minority," she said. "We've been having a lot of events, talking to a lot of fans, and so many kids of course are madly in love with Robert but tons of kids of every kind (and) girls are coming up to me and saying `I want to direct now, I'm writing a screenplay now, you're my inspiration.' I think it's great that people are getting excited."

The big opening for "Twilight" also helps put Summit Entertainment on the map, said Richie Say, the company's president of domestic distribution. Summit has only been around since April 2007 and "Twilight," its sixth release, cost just $37 million to make.

"It certainly says what we've been saying all along, that we can do more with less," he said. When Warner Bros . pushed " Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince " from this weekend to a July 2009 debut, and Summit jumped to move "Twilight" from Dec. 12 into that spot on the schedule, "that decision was made in a day. I don't know that the major studios have that ability."

The tremendous take for "Twilight" far exceeded expectations, which had been set around $50 million.

"Teen girls rule the earth," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. "If you look back at the ` Hannah Montana' movie , how well that did, and now this movie, the teen girl audience will never be ignored again or underestimated. It was always teen boys who were the coveted ones, but someone finally caught on to the idea that girls love movies, too, and if you create something that they're into, that they're passionate about, they will come out in big numbers and drive the box office."

The other major debut of the weekend, Walt Disney 's 3-D animated "Bolt," made $27 million to take third place. Featuring the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, "Bolt" follows the cross-country journey of a dog who plays a superhero on television, but sadly realizes he has no magical powers once he gets separated from his "person."

Chuck Viane, Disney's head of distribution, said "Twilight" took a bite out of everyone's box office this weekend. If the vampire saga hadn't been around, Viane said, Disney would have expected an opening of at least $30 million.

"Obviously we believe in the Thanksgiving holiday in a big, big way," he said. "We've always viewed this as one of those 10-day marathons between opening day and the end of the Thanksgiving weekend."

Last weekend's No. 1 movie, " Quantum of Solace ," came in second with $27.4 million. The latest James Bond extravaganza has now grossed $109.5 million, and it crossed the $100 million mark faster than any other film in the franchise, said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony . It's also made $309 million internationally.

"We're in great shape. We're way ahead of where we were with ` Casino Royale ,'" said Bruer, referring to the last Bond picture, which also starred Daniel Craig as a more visceral incarnation of 007.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

Shy British hunk sinks teeth into much-awaited teen vampire flick

HOLLYWOOD – Robert Pattinson has all the traits of a Hollywood heartthrob – photogenic features, a lovely British accent, and a starring role as a brooding but devastatingly handsome lover.

He’ll play good-guy vampire Edward Cullen in “Twilight,” the big-screen adaptation of the first installment in author Stephenie Meyer’s wildly successful young-adult book series due in theaters Nov. 21.

The only thing that doesn’t quite fit? Pattinson is one seriously self-deprecating guy.

“I can’t watch myself onscreen,” said the 22-year-old actor, who previously appeared as Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

“When my parents say, ‘Oh, did you see this photo?’ I immediately start going, ‘Don’t tell me about photos!’ I haven’t watched anything since the premiere of ‘Harry Potter.’

“And that’s because I couldn’t find a way out. It would have looked a bit bad for me to walk out,” he conceded with a laugh.

In the coming months, Pattinson and the rest of the film’s ensemble cast are probably going to have to get a lot more comfortable with fame.

“Twilight,” which details the romance between Edward and 17-year-old Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), has been compared to “Romeo and Juliet,” with its themes of forbidden love. But it’s also been described as the heir to J.K. Rowling’s teen wizard saga, given its blockbuster literary pedigree and popularity among the younger-than-18 set.

For months, interest in the film has been building: There’s even a clock counting down the minutes to its premiere at twilightthemovie.com.

It’s a strange thing to realize that you’re at the heart of a full-blown pop culture phenomenon, but on an unseasonable October afternoon, with the temperature hovering near 100 degrees, the pressure didn’t seem to be adversely affecting any of the actors.

Gathered around a conference table in a Los Angeles office building, Pattinson and costars Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed, who portray two other members of the Cullen clan, were playing it remarkably cool.

“I think it was toward the end of shooting when it really dawned on me,” said Reed, who plays the supremely confident Rosalie, love interest to Lutz’s Emmett.

“There were fans that were finding out where the locations were, and that’s when it really hit me. People saying, ‘Oh, it’s going to be the next “Harry Potter”!’ That’s a big mountain in front of you. There’s a lot of hype around this.”

During the conversation, the trio easily dissolved into laughter, teasing one another and displaying the same generally convivial vibe that took root during the weeks they spent together on set in the remote Pacific Northwest with director Catherine Hardwicke.

“It’s weird having such a big cast where everyone’s pretty much the same age,” Pattinson said. “A lot of the time, the locations were really isolated, so we were the only people we could hang out with.”

Every modern take on the vampire legend sets up new rules that govern the creatures, and “Twilight” is no exception. In the story, the Cullens refuse to feed on humans, hunting animals instead, and they are not harmed by the sun, although their luminous white skin does glitter in direct light.

It’s their self-imposed dietary restrictions and desire to live among people that ultimately helps Bella accept Edward’s true nature, but it also puts the vampires in direct conflict with others of their kind, who are less, well, civilized.

For the movie’s action sequences, the actors experimented with stunts and wire work, which Pattinson admits did not play to his strengths.

“I got injured on the first shot of the first day,” he said. “I wasn’t even doing a stunt. I was just trying to pick up Kristen, and I almost tore my hamstring because I hadn’t been doing enough squats. It was very embarrassing.”

Added Lutz: “When we did have those hard days, we would go back to Rob’s room. He had a couple of guitars in there and a lot of great music. It was really fun being able to relax and have the cast come together, having that time just to bond and not really be actors but friends.”

Even though the film’s release is several weeks away, Summit Entertainment already has announced plans to move ahead with adaptations of the other books in the series – depending, of course, on how well “Twilight” fares at the box office.

Pattinson, Lutz, 23, and Reed, 20, said they are thrilled about the prospects for a Cullen family reunion. After all, playing a vampire does offer an actor certain advantages.

“You’re doing a scene with someone and you can play something however you want and deliver it in a completely random way so even the other actor doesn’t know what you’re doing,” Pattinson said. “And you can just say, ‘Well, it’s because I’m a vampire, isn’t it?’ ”

Edward Cullen (né Edward Anthony Masen) is a fictional character from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. He features in the books Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, as well as the yet unfinished Midnight Sun, and upcoming Twilight film.

Vampiric traits; abilities; interests
Edward, like all vampires in the Twilight series, possesses superhuman beauty, strength, speed, endurance, and agility. His scent and voice are enormously seductive, so much so that he occasionally sends Bella into a pliant daze entirely by accident. In Twilight, Edward explains that like other vampires, he does not need to breathe, though he chooses to do so out of habit and because it is helpful to smell his environment. He cannot digest regular food, and compares its attractiveness for him to the prospect of eating dirt for a regular person. As well, like other vampires, Edward is not able to sleep.

In addition to the traits he shares with his fellow vampires, Edward has certain abilities that are his alone. He is the fastest of the Cullens, able to outrun any of them. Perhaps as a result of a talent for empathy in his human life, Edward can also read the mind of anyone within a few miles of himself; Bella is the sole exception to this rule, which Meyer has stated is due to Bella having a very private mind. Characterization
Edward is described in the book and by Bella as being charming, polite, determined, and very stubborn. He is very protective over Bella and puts her safety, humanity and welfare before anything else. He often over-analyzes situations and has a tendency to overreact, especially in situations where Bella's safety is at risk. He retains some outdated speech from his human life in the early 20th century, and can be very romantic. Edward sees himself as a monster, and after falling in love with Bella, he desperately wishes that he were human instead of a vampire.

Physical appearance
Like all the vampires in the Twilight series, Edward is described by Bella as being impossibly beautiful. At various points in the series, she compares him to the mythical Greek god Adonis. His skin is "like marble"– very pale, ice cold, and sparkles in the sunlight. She describes his facial features as being perfect and angular - high cheekbones, strong jawline, a straight nose, and beautiful, full lips. His hair, which is always in casual disarray, retains the unusual bronze shade that he inherited in his human life from his biological mother. His eyes, once emerald green, are now described as a liquid, golden topaz. His fingers are described often as slender and he is said to have a dazzlingly crooked smile. His appearance changes if he goes long without feeding: his eyes darken, becoming almost black, and purple bruises appear beneath his eyes. BREAKING DAWN: THE 4TH AND FINAL BOOK OF THE TWILIGHT SERIES

Breaking Dawn is the fourth novel in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It is the last novel of the Twilight saga to be told from Bella Swan's perspective. Divided into three "books", all but Book 2 are told from the perspective of Bella Swan, with the second being told from the point of view of Jacob Black. Breaking Dawn was released on August 2, 2008 with a special midnight release party in many bookstores. From its initial print run of 3.7 million copies, 1.3 million were sold in the first 24 hours of its release, setting a record in first-day sales performance for the Hachette Book Group USA.

CONCEPT OF BREAKING DAWN
The title, Breaking Dawn, is a reference to the beginning of Bella's life as a vampire. The cover is a metaphor for Bella's progression throughout the entire saga; she began as the physically weakest player on the board, the pawn, but ended up the strongest, the queen. The plays The Merchant of Venice and A Midsummer Night's Dream both influenced Breaking Dawn. Originally, Meyer wrote a book titled Forever Dawn, which was a direct sequel to Twilight. While the basic storyline stayed the same, Forever Dawn was narrated completely from Bella's point of view, the werewolves and Jacob were "only sketchily developed", Victoria and Laurent were both alive, and there was an epilogue. Meyer goes on to say that she "may post some extras someday if I ever have time to go back through the Forever Dawn manuscript—it's just as long as Breaking Dawn. There are a couple of things that family members told me they particularly missed, so I would start there."

In regard to Renesmee's unique name, Meyer wrote that she "couldn't call her Jennifer or Ashley. What do you name the most unique baby in the world? I looked through a lot of baby name websites. Eventually I realized that there was no human name that was going to work for me, so I surrendered to necessity and made up my own. Meyer decided on including the pregnancy in her story while she was researching vampires and came across the legend of the incubus, a demon who could father children.

Meyer states in regard to ending the series that:

"The Twilight Saga is really Bella's story, and this was the natural place for her story to wind up. She overcame the major obstacles in her path and fought her way to the place she wanted to be. I suppose I could try to prolong her story unnaturally, but it wouldn't be interesting enough to keep me writing. Stories need conflict, and the conflicts that are Bella-centric are resolved.

PLOT SUMMARY
Breaking Dawn is split into three separate "books", or parts. The first part details Bella's marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil. Edward grants Bella's wish and makes love to her. Soon after, Bella finds a box of unused tampons and realizes that she is pregnant. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her belief, she and Edward plan to return home. Edward, concerned for her wellbeing, urges her to get an abortion. However, Bella wants to keep the child and decides to contact Rosalie for support, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children.

The second part of the novel is written from Jacob Black's point of view, and lasts throughout Bella's pregnancy and childbirth. The pack of werewolves, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it, even though they must kill Bella to do so. Jacob, however, disagrees and revolts, leaving the pack and creating his own with Seth and Leah Clearwater. Bella soon gives birth, approximately a month after becoming pregnant. The birth breaks many of her bones and she loses massive amounts of blood, and in order to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob, who was present for the birth, immediately imprints on Bella's newborn daughter, Renesmee.

The final section of Breaking Dawn shifts back to Bella's perspective, who has been changed into a vampire and is enjoying her new life. However, the vampire Irina misidentifies Renesmee as an "immortal child", a child who has been turned into a vampire before it is old enough to be responsible for its actions. The creation and protection of "immortal children" was previously outlawed by the Volturi. After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee. In an attempt to save her, the Cullens gather vampires from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen allies and witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to the secret existence of vampires. At that time, Alice and Jasper, who had left prior to the confrontation, return with Nahuel, a 150-year-old vampire-human crossbreed like Renesmee. He demonstrates that the crossbreeds pose no threat and the Volturi leave, knowing that they no longer have just reason to destroy Renesmee. Bella, Edward, and Renesmee return to their home, free to live their lives in peace.

Eclipse is the third book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It continues the story of 18-year-old Bella Swan and her vampire love, Edward Cullen. Eclipse is preceded by New Moon and followed by Breaking Dawn.

Plot summary
The story begins with the revelation that Seattle is being plagued by a string of unsolved murders, which Edward suspects to be the cause of a newborn vampire that is unable to control its thirst. Edward and Bella fill out college applications, while Bella explains to Edward her desire to see Jacob, her werewolf friend, again. Meanwhile, Alice Cullen has a vision that Victoria, a vampire that is hunting Bella, is back in town. Although Edward fears for her safety, Bella insists that Jacob and the rest of the werewolf pack would never harm her, but Edward is still not convinced. Bella escapes to La Push to see Jacob while Edward is away, and arrives afterwards at her house unharmed. This convinces Edward that the La Push werewolves are harmless to her and he allows Bella to visit Jacob once in a while, as long as she keeps a phone with her at all times.

A few days later Bella tries to get Edward to make love to her before turning her into a vampire. Edward initially refuses, explaining to Bella that he could very easily kill her. Eventually, upon realizing how much it means to Bella, he says that he is willing to try in the future as long as they are married first. Despite having an aversion to marriage, Bella realizes that spending eternity with Edward is more important to her than anything else and accepts his proposal.

Bella and the Cullens realize that the murders in Seattle are being committed by Victoria and an "army" of newborn vampires. The Cullen family joins forces with the werewolf pack in order to combat this threat. As everyone else prepares for battle, Edward and Bella camp up in the mountains, where they are later joined by Jacob and Seth Clearwater, a young member of the werewolf pack, to wait out the fight.

In the morning, Jacob overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement and becomes very upset. He threatens to join the fight and get himself killed because Bella doesn't love him. When Bella begs him not to, Jacob insists that he will unless she asks him to kiss her. Furious, she does so, and while kissing him she realizes that she loves him, too. However, she explains that her love for Edward is eternal and that she cannot live without him.

Their family and friends successfully destroy Victoria and her "army", though Jacob is injured when saving Leah Clearwater. He heals swiftly under the supervision of Carlisle. Bella visits Jacob in his home to tell him of her choice, and Jacob, angry at Bella's decision to become a vampire, runs away in his wolf form to escape the pain he feels.

The book jacket features a torn red ribbon. Although it was supposed to be disclosed to the public in May 2007 at the Eclipse Prom, Barnes & Noble and Stephenie Meyer's official website premiered the newly released cover in March 2007, along with a preview summary of the book's plot. The broken ribbon represents choice, as in the book Bella must choose between her love for vampire Edward Cullen, and her friendship/love with werewolf Jacob Black. Meyer also stated that the ribbon represents the idea that Bella can't break away completely from her human life.

‘Twilight’ Tuesday: Peter Facinelli Talks Vampire Baseball

Three of my favorite things in this entire world are movies, baseball (Go Red Sox!) and the “Twilight” universe. So needless to say, I’m really friggin’ excited about the one scene in November’s movie that will combine all three.

This week’s “Twilight” Tuesday focuses on the very cool Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen. While speaking with him, I got super excited when he revealed an ad lib he put into the baseball scene, revealing Carlisle’s history of hanging out with Babe Ruth — and, much like myself, he cited the superpowered sequence as the moment he’s most eager to see on the big screen.

“Personally, I’m hoping the vampire baseball scene will be really fun to watch,” the actor insisted, saying that all those fastballs and leaping catches should jump off the page and onto the big screen. “I mean, you can only do so much with your imagination, when you’re thinking about vampire baseball [and reading 'Twilight']. But actually seeing that and hearing the cracking of the bat? The super-vampire speed? That should be fun to watch.”

I've found out that NEW MOON is available in paperback in the bookstore I recently visited but decided not to take it because it would just break the point of the whole story! Waaa! huhuh.. But hey, I found out that this book is categorized in the children's book section! Hahaha! But now, almost all teenagers I know are reading it! hehe! while waiting, here's a short descrption of the plot in NEW MOON from wikipedia. ^_^

Isabella "Bella" Swan is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice and Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and the rest of their vampire family. While unwrapping a gift, she receives a paper cut. Jasper, the newest member of the family to attempt a non-human diet, tries to attack Bella, overwhelmed by the scent of blood. In an attempt to keep Bella safe from the world of vampires, Edward and his family leave the small town of Forks. Bella enters a deep depression and seeks comfort with Jacob Black, an old family friend who clears the haze of Bella's pain.

Bella and Jacob spend more and more time together, and Bella soon discovers that the rush of adrenaline present when she places herself in dangerous situations stimulates a hallucination of Edward's voice. Bella begins seeking out dangerous behaviour, such as motorcycle riding, to keep Edward's voice with her. Meanwhile, Jacob finds out that he is a werewolf. Initially, he tries to keep this secret from Bella, but he eventually reveals as much as he can without betraying his pack. After Bella attempts cliff-jumping, she gets caught in a riptide and is rescued by Jacob.

At the same time, Alice Cullen, Edward's vampire "sister" who has visions of the future, has a vision of Bella jumping. However, werewolves are one flaw in her ability, and she does not see Jacob rescuing Bella. Presuming Bella is dead, Alice rushes to Forks to check on Charlie, Bella's father, while Edward calls Bella's home. Jacob picks up and informs Edward that Charlie is "at the funeral", referring to that of a man in town who had a heart attack, but Edward draws the conclusion that it is Bella's funeral. Desperate after Bella's supposed death, Edward flees to Italy to see the Volturi, peace-keeping vampires who would be able to kill Edward, granting him leave of a world without Bella.

Bella and Alice rush to Italy to stop Edward, and save him before it is too late. Before they leave Italy, the Volturi tell them that Bella, a human who knows of the existence of vampires, must either be killed or changed into a vampire herself. After they return to Forks, Edward explains to Bella that he only left in order to protect her, and she forgives him. The book ends with the Cullens voting in favor of Bella being changed into a vampire, much to Edward's dismay.

Bella has dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. An important trait of hers is her immunity to supernatural abilities that involve the mind, such as Edward's mind reading. Once transformed into a vampire in the saga's fourth installment, Bella acquires the ability to immunize both herself and others from the "mental harm" caused by opposing vampires' abilities.

Edward Cullen - Edward is a vampire who lives with a coven of like-minded vampires known as the Cullen family, who feed on animals instead of humans. At first, Edward feels a mutual hatred toward Jacob Black due to his love toward Bella. In Breaking Dawn, he comes to see Jacob as a brother and a friend. Like some vampires, Edward has a supernatural ability; his gift is mind reading, allowing him to read the thoughts of anyone within a few miles of himself. Bella is immune to his power as a human, but learns to let down her "shield" once she becomes a vampire.

Jacob Black - A minor character in the first novel, Jacob is introduced as a member of the Quileute tribe. He resurfaces in New Moon with a much larger role, becoming a werewolf and Bella's best friend as she is struggles through a her depression of losing Edward and being hunted by Victoria. Although he is greatly in love with Bella, she initially sees him as just her best friend. In Eclipse, Bella realizes that she loves Jacob as well; in fact, her love for Jacob is only eclipsed by her love for Edward Cullen. In Breaking Dawn, Jacob imprints on Bella and Edward's daughter Renesmee, thus ridding him of his heartache for Bella.

Alice Cullen - One of Edward's adopted sisters, Alice is described as "pixie-like" due to her small frame and spiked hair and her movement is noted to be very graceful and strikingly quick. She loves to shop, dress up Bella, and throw extravagant parties. Her special ability is seeing the future as soon as someone makes the decision to head down that path. This ability is very useful, as it gives the family forewarning to any dangers. However, she cannot see the future of werewolves. She is married to Jasper Hale, who is her soul-mate, and she loves Bella as if she were her own sister.

Jasper Hale - One of Edward's adopted brothers, and Alice's husband and soul-mate. He can sense and influence the emotions of people around him. He has the most trouble with the Cullens' "vegetarian" lifestyle, since he and Alice are the newest members of the family, and before joining them he spent almost a century living off human blood. He became a vampire sometime during the American Civil War. He was initially involved in vampire wars, creating new vampires and forming them into armies, until he met Alice and became a part of the Cullen family.

Rosalie Hale - Edward's adopted sister, who is self-absorbed and described as being the most beautiful person in the world. At first, she appears to play an antagonistic role in the story. She became a vampire when Carlisle saved her life after several men, including her fiancé, beat and raped her, leaving her to die. She is the wife and soul-mate of Emmett Cullen. Rosalie initially disliked Bella for her willingness to give up humanity to become a vampire, but her opinion changed once Bella fought to keep her unborn child in Breaking Dawn.

Emmett Cullen - Edward's adopted brother, and Rosalie's husband and soul-mate. He is described as being an extremely muscular and cheerful guy, with dark, curly hair and dimples; he also enjoyed cracking jokes about Bella when she was human. As a human, Emmett was attacked by a grizzly bear and nearly killed before Rosalie, who was hunting, interceded. She saved and carried him 100 miles to Carlisle, in hopes of saving his life by turning him into a vampire.

Carlisle Cullen - The adoptive father of the Cullen children and husband of Esme Cullen. Born in London as the son of a Anglican pastor, he is around 360 years old and works as a doctor in Forks. After becoming a vampire, he spent hundreds of years resisting the smell of blood so that he could become a doctor. He transformed Edward, Esme, Rosalie, and Emmett into vampires to save their lives.

Esme Cullen - As Carlisle's wife and the Cullen children's mother, Esme is regarded as sincerely kind, caring, and loving. As a human, Esme tried to commit suicide after the death of her newborn baby. She jumped off a cliff and was severely injured, but she was found by Dr. Carlisle Cullen who decided to change her into a vampire. Carlisle and Esme soon fell in love and got married.

Renesmee Cullen - Renesmee is the half-human, half-vampire daughter of Bella and Edward Cullen. Her birth nearly killed Bella, but Edward and Jacob kept Bella's heart beating long enough for Edward's venom to transform her into a vampire. Jacob imprinted on the baby, much to her parents' dislike. Renesmee's special gift is to allow others to see what she is thinking when she touches their cheek. As well, she can get past all mental barriers- including Bella's.

OK I changed my mind! I'll just buy (or at least borrow the book) and read it! November is still a long way to go and I don't want to get left behind! hehe! ^_^ Here's the Plot of the story, which makes me more interested on buying the book!

Twilight

Isabella (Bella) Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington to allow her mother, Renée, to travel with her new husband, Phil (who is a baseball player). After moving to Forks, Bella finds herself involuntarily drawn to a mysterious, handsome boy, Edward Cullen, who turns out to be a 'vegetarian' vampire, (a vampire who drinks animal blood, as opposed to human blood). They fall in love, and must fight off a rival vampire who wants to drink Bella's blood. Bella escapes to Phoenix, Arizona where she is tricked into confronting James, a sadistic vampire who wishes to kill her.

New Moon

Edward and his family leave Forks because of his belief that he is constantly endangering Bella's life by his presence. Bella falls into a deep depression, until she develops a strong friendship with wolf shape-shifter Jacob Black. Jacob and the other wolves in his tribe must protect her from Victoria, an evil vampire who intends to avenge the death of James, her mate, by killing Bella. A misunderstanding occurs, and Edward is led to believe that Bella is dead. Edward decides to commit suicide in Volterra, Italy, but he is stopped by Bella and Alice. They meet with the Volturi and are let go on the condition that Bella be turned into a vampire in the near future. Bella and Edward are reunited, and the Cullens return to Forks.

Eclipse

The vampire Victoria has amassed an army of "newborn" vampires to battle the Cullen family and kill Bella. Meanwhile, Bella is forced to choose between her relationship with Edward and her friendship with Jacob. Edward's family of vampires and Jacob's pack of werewolves join forces to successfully destroy Victoria and her army of vampires. In the end, Bella chooses Edward's love over Jacob's. Jacob, devastated to hear of Bella's choice and her decision to become a vampire, runs away from Forks.

Breaking Dawn

Bella and Edward marry, but their honeymoon is cut short by Bella's realization that she has become pregnant. Bella's pregnancy progresses at an extremely fast rate, and makes her very weak. She nearly dies while giving birth to their half-vampire-half-human daughter, Renesmee, but Edward injects Bella with his venom to save her life by turning her into a vampire. A vampire from another coven sees Renesmee and mistakes her for an "immortal child", the existence of which violates vampire rules, and informs the Volturi. The Cullens gather vampire witnesses who can verify that the child is not one of the immortal children. The Cullens convince the Volturi that Renesmee is not a danger to vampires or their secret, and they are left in peace.

Ever since I started seeing this book on the bookstore, in school, and anywhere I go, I got more curious on what is really inside this book? Truth is, I still haven't read the book yet! I got more curious when almost all of my classmates have started reading the book! And there's also a movie coming this November 21,2008! All I know is that it's kind of a romantic story that even my guy classmates were touched by it and my girl classmates screaming at the top of their lungs when seeing a picture of the movie! Waaa! And the thing is, I don't want to get left behind! But I'm used to reading self-help books and not fictional books, So I guess I'll just have to wait for the movie to come! hehe! So, here's what's inside the book (I mean outside the book).

Twilight is a series of vampire-based fantasy/romance/horror novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. It follows the adventures of Isabella Swan, a teenager who moves to Forks, Washington and finds her life turned upside-down when she falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen.

The series is told primarily from Bella's point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and a portion of Breaking Dawn being told from the viewpoint of Jacob Black. Midnight Sun, if published, will be told from Edward Cullen's point of view of Twilight.
